HBCD
In the US, a National Academy of Sciences' toxicological study concluded that HBCD was one of the eight substances that could be used as a flame retardant in upholstered furniture to meet California flammability standards.
The US Environmental Protection Agency has launched a review of HBCD that should be finalized in 2012.
In Canada, the Environmental Ministry has launched a risk assessment and it is expected to be published in 2010.
