?China RoHS? Regulation publication
Friday 24 March 2006
China's Ministry of Information Industries (MII) recently issued a Regulation laying out the framework and guiding principles for what is commonly referred to as 'China RoHS'The official title of the Regulation is: The Regulation on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products (some English translations use the word 'Administration' in place of the word 'Regulation'). It becomes effective on March 1, 2007.Importantly, the Regulation is simply the first component of an overall Chinese policy and regulatory formulation also including a Requirement for Limits, a Catalogue and specific measurement standards - which together make up what has been referred to as 'China RoHS'.We expect clarification on Deca-BDE specifically around the middle of 2006 and we do not expect it to be included in relevant restrictions.
