Deca-BDE

Each of the BSEF member companies have decided to phase out voluntarily for the US market the production and use of Deca-BDE, in cooperation with the US Environmental Protection Agency, by the end of 2012 with an additional year granted for specific applications (e.g. transportation, military).

Most recently, the Government of Canada concluded that a severe limitation on the use of Deca-BDE in electrical and electronic equipment was the most prudent and justifiable course of action for Canada.  BSEF does not believe an effective prohibition on the use of Deca-BDE in electrical and electronic equipment is necessary or warranted and is continuing to work closely with Environment Canada on measures to effectively monitor and reduce emissions of Deca-BDE into the environment.
