Friday, 14 of June 2019

Since 2016, BSEF, the International Bromine Council, has been working to promote bromine and its applications in India by engaging with key stakeholders. Taking this a step forward, in 2019, BSEF, working with Avalon Consulting, BSEF’s India consulting partners, has collaborated with the Indian Chemical Council, India’s apex chemical industry body, to launch the India Bromine Platform (IBP). The IBP will be a cross-industry initiative aimed fostering the bromine industry in India by promoting the benefits of bromine and bromine-based technologies by working with bromine producers and suppliers in India.

Kevin Bradley, Secretary General, BSEF said

“We are honored to collaborate with the Indian Chemical Council in developing this initiative with Indian bromine producers. The Indian Bromine platform will be an opportunity to share scientific and technical information on bromine applications and contribute to BSEF’s global efforts to enhance knowledge about bromine and bromine-based technologies”

The IBP’s mission is to identify and address issues pertinent to the Indian and global bromine industry. It will drive mutually beneficial initiatives relevant to India’s bromine ecosystem; seek to disseminate learnings and experience from other regions around the globe, and strive to enhance collaboration and knowledge among its members and other relevant stakeholders to support bromine-based technologies and their use in India.

The IBP is expected to witness participation from key bromine producers and suppliers in the India. Apart from brainstorming sessions on the IBP’s initiatives in India, the meeting will also have experts related to key aspects of the bromine industry and its applications like fire safety, mercury emission control and safe bromine handling.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the IBP held on 19th June 2019 in Mumbai, India, the Indian Chemical Council’s expressed their support on this initiative by stating that

“The India Bromine Platform is a unique initiative bringing together stakeholders of the Bromine industry to discuss relevant ideas and initiatives. As India’s premier chemical industry body, ICC is happy to collaborate with BSEF – The International Bromine Council – to contribute in driving forward the interests of the Bromine industry”
