BSEF at the Energy Storage Global Conference 2018 (video)

The Energy Storage Global Conference, organised by EASE with the support of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, took place from the 24 until the 26 of October in Brussels with over 300 participants from around the world.

BSEF, The International Bromine Council, was a proud exhibitor at the conference, during the 3 day event, the BSEF team presented the multiple Bromine based energy storage technologies and its benefits for economy and society.

” The wide variety of storage technologies is key to decarbonise not only the energy sector but also the transport, heating and cooling sectors.”

Tudor Constantinescu, Principal Advisor to the Director General for Energy, European Commission

The conference was a unique opportunity to industry, researchers and policymakers to exchange views on key issues for the storage sector. Representatives from around the world discussed together for three days to discuss the latest developments in energy storage technologies, regulatory and policy development and the future storage market.

Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union, kicked-off the event and delivered a keynote speech on energy storage policy and the role of storage in the energy transition.

In the video below, you can see some of the highlights of the Energy Storage Global Conference 2018, including interviews with Kevin Bradley (BSEF Secretary General), Patrick Clerens (EASE Secretary General) and Wiebrand Kout (Elestor Founder and CTO).

During the conference speakers highlighted the incredible diversity of energy storage technologies and applications providing insights into the technological capabilities and latest developments of pumped hydro storage, power-to-gas, batteries, ultracapacitors, liquid air, compressed air, thermal storage, and more. In addition to the technologies speakers also touched on the market outlook for storage, how storage can support the industrial competitiveness of the EU, and how storage costs are expected to reduce.
